Internet Connection Failing When Returning From StandBy

Hello,

I'm using:
  • Marvell Yukon PCI Gigabit Ethernet Controller
  • Windows XP
  • DSL Connection

Anytime I bring my computer back from Standby my internet either doesn't work at all or will only work for one or two applications. For example sometimes it will come back and I can connect to MSN messenger but I will not be able to bring anything up in Firefox.

I've tried updating drivers as well as changing the power management settings on the ethernet controller but nothing has been successful so far.

If any more info is needed please let me know and I'll be happy to supply it.

I have no idea but since nobody has replied, i'll suggest something totally unrelevant and stupid :P
Maybe the connection keep-alive settings on the router or dsl modem has something to do with this?

Problem persists after restarting DSL router.

The only way I've found that fixes this issue is to restart my PC which is a nuisance and defeats the purpose of standby altogether.

Hi,
ok..then we can realise that the problem related with the O.S. I thing, some softwares in the pc may hang the internet connection.
So try by uninstalling the os and install. Also remove all the unwanted softwares in the pc....

At the moment I think I've resolved the issue. After tinkering with Ethernet card settings to no avail I decided to have a look at my firewall. Sure enough the security settings were maxed out and I'm assuming this was limiting my internet activity.

I'd recently switched from using USB to Ethernet and never having problems with the USB so I assumed this was a card related problem. I do believe upon recognizing the new card my firewall defaulted to it's highest settings.

Thanks for your input.
