Problem with Virtual Server 2005. Host not seeing VM

I have a wireless laptop running Vista Ultimate. I have installed Virtual Server 2005, and inside Virtual Server I currently have one Windows Server 2003 running. Laptop is part of a domain.

Because I'm using wireless to access the internet with my laptop, to allow my Virtual WS2003 access the internet, I require to have a microsoft loopback adapter.

So I have Wireless Network, that has internet connection sharing switch on for my MS loopback adapter. My Virtual machine uses the microsoft loopback adapter. (I'm unable to provide the actual IP address at present, but I think

Laptop - 192.168.0.6
Loopback - 10.0.10.1
VM - 10.0.10.2

I'm able to get my Virtual WS2003 to access the internet, and it can access any shared folder in my network. I'm unable to access the Virtual WS2003 shared folders from my laptop, I am also unable to ping the IP addess.

It's must be a subnet or firewall problem. I'm doubtful that it is a firewall problem because I've turn the firewall off in Vista and it still didn't work. Please does anyone have any ideas or require more information to help me out?

Have you tried setting them all on the same IP range? (ie - all in the 10.0.0.* or all in the 192.168.0.* networks?)

Thank you Colloid Snake for your reply. Sorry I've taken time to reply.

I've tried your suggestion and it didn't work. By making the loopback adapter 192.168.0.100 and the VM 192.168.0.101 as you suggested I lose the internet connection as well as not able to connect to the VM from my host.

With your configuration I was able to ping the loopback adapter, but nothing else.

I've since changed my settings back.
Loopback 10.0.10.1

VM 10.0.10.2 with gateway set as 10.0.10.1.

Additional information.

I've just tried to ping my physical server from inside my virtual machine. I can ping my virtual machine. I can also access my server shared folders.

The other way round, I cannot connect. Information must be getting to the virtual machine, as it pulling information through my host machine, through the loopback adapter to the virtual machine. Just wish I could work out how to push information through the loopback adapter to the Virtual Server.

Done it!!! Yay me!

Not 100% sure what I did that actually made it work, but I'll describe the steps I did.

All inside the virtual machine.

Opened up Routing and Remote Access. Under IP Routing -> DHCP Relay Agent, right click and select properties. I put the server address as 127.0.0.1 instead of 10.0.10.2. (really it's the same address)

Under IP Routing -> IGMP my internet connection which connects to my loopback adapter on my host, right click. This is what I think solved my problem, I had the mode set as IGMP proxy. I switched this to IGMP router.

Then under NAT/Basic Firewall, right click properties on the Internet connection.
I unticked the Enable a basic firewall on this interface.
I also ticked some services and ports, and ticked all inside the ICMP.

Hope that helps someone else. Next I've got to work out how to get the VPN to work, as my VM is gonna be on a different Domain.
