what is analog and digital signal

sir tell me briefly that what is the analog and digital signal.the digital signal
can be defined as the signal that will in the 0 and 1 format.
but do the zeros and ones travel in the wires.and also tell me how computer converts the text that we enter by the keyboard in the binary.why computer convert the text in binary why not in the decimal number system.
