PC without serial port

271 100+
hi friends,

my friend recently has imported a hp pc which has no serial port in it. he has an external modem which is to be interfaced to it. i heard about a serial to usb cable. can any one suggest me will it be useful. does it require any driver for interfacing a modem. as i have asked the cable is not shipped with any drivers.

can any one suggest me a better solution for this.

Adding an internal serial port, or, better yet, an internal modem, is a good option. The modem would come with drivers.

hi there,

a driver is needed to support the usb cable converter to generate a virtual com port. You can use the converter but still, the driver should come with it.

ofcourse for your option, you can use an internal modem and I think it is less expensive than the usb converter.

cheers :)
