Can faster file sharing be achieved by connecting computers simultaneously via WiFi and LAN cables

7 New Member
Hello everyone,

I have a question and would like some advice on network connectivity. I have one computer connected to my router via WiFi, but I have two other computers that I want to be able to share files faster. My idea is to connect these two computers via LAN cable to increase file transfer speed.

I want to confirm if I can connect both computers via WiFi and LAN cable at the same time to achieve this kind of file sharing. Specifically, I want the WiFi connection to be used for surfing the Internet and accessing network resources, and the LAN cable connection for faster file transfers between these two computers.

Does anyone have a similar setup or experience? If so, what configuration do I need to make to ensure that both connection methods work?

Thank you all so much for your advice and help!

Hi All, Recently encountered problems with "Error 3052 File sharing lock exceeded". I have done some research and found the aswer here on the forum. However, I have the following questions: - The number of records in my file (text file) are only small - 3500 and this error is happening. Thought it was suppose to occur only in big files? - could it be in the code? it is stated "dbopentable" does that mean that the locking is done on the...

My SOHO network has XP Home Edition clients (simple file sharing, of course). Now I need to bring an XP Pro laptop into the system that wants to connect to a domain controller. The two options I see are: 1) set up my XP Pro server to support both services or 2) set up the laptop to use simple file sharing at home and connect to the domain at work. Any suggestions, anyone? If I need to set up a domain at home, I'll need some guidance to...

I'm looking for a solution but cant seem to find one so far so I was hoping somebody can help. I just moved into a home that has a wired network already installed. It is all connected to a wired BEFSR81 Linksys Router. Unfortunatly its not a wireless one so in one of the jacks in my house i have a wirless DI-624 D-Link Router piggybacked that will allow my wireless laptops to surf the internet. The problem appears when I want to do file...

Hello. Well, this is my first post on any USENET group anywhere, so I hope I get it right. Basically, I just want to get some opinions on a plan of mine for a new project. I want to produce a small, peer to peer, file sharing network for the use of myself and some of my friends. The purpose of this is basically to allow us to share files conveniently without relying on technology such as Windows Live Messenger (Yuck).

Me and a friend of mine are trying to make a file sharing program using python. I have a book that recommends using urllib2 for file transfers. But which ever we end up using, i cant find any explanation on how to use either for simple file transfers.

Hi. I'm using the win32 module to access an Access database, but I'm running into the File Sharing lock count as in http://support.microsoft.com/kb/815281 The solution I'd like to use is the one where you can temporarily override the setting using (if we were in VB): DAO.DBEngine.SetOption dbmaxlocksperfile,15000 Can I do this in win32com? I've been using ADO, not DAO, but I have to confess to not knowing exactly what the difference...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...
