US Robotics wireless print server setup

16 New Member
Hey all, I'm using a US robotics wireless router, and I want to connect a HP Color Laserjet 1600 to it for use as a network printer. I followed the directions from the USR website carefully (http://www.usr.com/support/5461/5461-files/printer_install ation/index.html) and when I get to step #10 the wizard pops up an error saying "Windows cannot connect to the printer..." what am I doing wrong?

This is an old thread but I am going to post a reply for anyone else with that old USR router and a similar problem.

If on the same subnet 192.168.2.x adding a printer using
http://192.168.2.1:1631/printers/My_Printer will tell you that you do not have a driver at "My_Printer " and you get a chance to load the driver. In my case a dell multifunction printer with USB. It works fine if you got the printer driver handy. XP or Win2k was ok.

If not on the same subnet. then I was unable to add the printer. This was my network setup:

192.168.2.x had the dell printer, 3 wired clients and one wireless client: 192.168.2.5 that was also the DMZ. That system had its ethernet set for microsoft internet sharing and the subnet was 192.168.0.x which went to a switch. None of the computer on that subnet nor the 192.168.2.5 system could access the dell printer at 1631. I am not sure why, but I did get the printer to be recognized for the wired 192.168.2.x systems.

Hello. I am a n00b in the field of programming. I studied mIRC, html, max script, and very little c++ logistics. I was wondering if what specific areas of c++ might help for robotics. If you have heard of FIRST. I am a member on one of the robotics teams known as Team 1241. I was once a junior programmer on their team however I did not live upto their expectations since my knowledge of c++ was very very very little. Now I come forth to you...

Hi there, I've recently developed a VBA-program in Excel that fetches and presents data from a distant Access database over a wireless peer-to-peer network (both computers running Win XP Pro). It has worked relatively well for some time, but recently I'm often encountering errors when trying to fetch the data. I am pretty sure that this is because of a poor wireless connection since I'm also having some problems e.g. copying files...

Thank you for any help you can give me. I have a database that I've been working on... a backend for the server and front ends for the users. Now I've found out that the network is wireless and that wireless & Access don't get along... I have been reading what I could find in this group... but I would like to clarify. The users have Windows XP... so I put the backend on the server in the root directory and put a front end for each user...

Hi, Although my application perform nicely in wired network, the performance in wireless network is very bad (I have tested in 802.11b). Would appreciate if anyone could suggest how I can improve the performance in the wireless network. Any one has tried running application in 802.11b vs 802.11g? I am developing it using vb.net, ado.net and SQL server for database Thanks Al

Hi all, I am about to distribute an A97-runtime app. which will be used on a LAN by approx. 30 users. The network is pretty good, but there are a few managers who have wireless laptops... Of course they also want to access the db. I am a bit afraid of possible corruption due to the wireless connections. ==> Do I have to be afraid indeed? If so, what is the best way to deal with this? Should I trace the wireless connections...

Hello, I am working on an Acc2003 app for my company. In the interest of reducing chances of corruption due to unstable network connectivity, I would like to either prevent users from running it through a wireless connection, or limit their use to read-only. I have absolutely no idea if this is possible, and if so, how. Is there any way from within Access to get the list of routers they are connecting through? Ideally, I'd like to keep...

Hello all, this is my first post in these forums, so bear with me if I've broken a few rules here or there. Anyhow, I would like to ask if anyone if familiar with the XBee Pro, here, and documentation is available here. The documents don't match the product exactly, the links from the product page ended up to the documents page I supplied. The difference between the models are just the effective range (I think), and the models are...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it. First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development projectplanning, coding, testing, and deploymentwithout human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
