Creating a save and load function for forms in VB

Hi everyone, first off thanks for any help and time in advance. I am pretty new to programming and have never really messed around with creating save and load functions and I would like to be able to save and load basically everything in my program. It is just a simple bill reminder program that keeps track of bill objects with a name, due date, and amount.

I have the user, or me for that matter input this information for the bill object, I then add the object to a list and then when done adding bills they draw to the screen in text boxes. So, what I am looking at in the end is 3 text boxes for each bill object, and a total text box that just adds up the amount owed. In addition, I am going to eventually add check boxes.

So what I would like to do is be able to save all the information in my program, i.e. my list of objects, variables, text box contents and position, etc. I have been messing around with my.settings and I think that is the best way to go about it, but I am not sure if there is a way to just take all the information and create a .xml file, or if I have to create a setting for each object, control, etc. I hope I have explained myself well enough, if not let me know and I will elaborate. Thanks again!
