java script code to flash a message box in asp.net with master page

I M Designing A web Page Using A a Master Page.The Page Contain Different Links Including Submit Button and Reset Button.
Now I want A Java script Code that Flash A message Box On Finding Any Text-box Blank.
If I use The Required Field Validator Then it works well for submit button but then all other links doesn't works.
So now i want the suitable java script code and where to place that code in master page or the designed page.
