ClickOnce - Disguised Connection or Safe 2 Use

P: 1
Hi All,

I had a desktop app built that apparently uses ClickOnce. It makes me nervous in that it might be connecting to the vendors servers and/or sending back PC information. There are no updates for this app, it was a onetime job. During launch it opens a window "Verifying Application Requirements" (mouse over image below). Most places stated this to be a server connection checking for updates.

The vendor stated "its checking that your computer has all the necessary dependencies. a generic screen that all vb apps have when installing. There's no security issues."

I also found it odd the application doesn't appear anywhere on the PC except "Add Remove Programs" and registry. It's not listed in the Start menu, Program Files, or Program Files (x86).

Feedback Please? Thanks All.
