about data seeking in VB.net.

My program has a text field called index number. When user entered an index number and click the 'Find' button, it should search the sql data table and if the record relevant to that index number exist, the record should view in the rest of text boxes in the form.
How can I code this in VB.ent using SQL 2005?

In most application development, you want to avoid filtering query results in your client-side code. They call that a stage 3 predicate and it is the picture of inefficiency. Basically, you want to create a SQL query with a predicate that filters on your index value so the RDBMS will do the filtering for you. Then your query will either return an empty set, if no entries are found, or the single row that you want.
