Problem while implementing Sybase connectivity

Hi All,

I am facing one problem while implementing the connectivity with the sybase server. When I am trying to open the AseConnection object the error popped up is "Client unable to establish a connection". I tried to ping the Data source x.x.x.x and found that it is active.

Am I missing something ?

Does it require to change any settings in the sybase.ini file..?

Wow, this could be a million things...I think you need to give us some more info here. I don't know anything about Sybase, but I bet the problem is a security problem, like a firewall which isn't properly configured or something...

Thanks for the reply.

Per my understanding, the possible scenario when problem may arise are
1) Sql Server service is not running
2) DataSource/Server is itself down
3) Security related i.e. Firewall configuration

I confirmed with the first two.. and they found to be perfect.I am not sure about the third option.Could you please guide me what should I check for third option in order to resolve the problem ?
