Loading Applications

I have a programme I have written in Visual Studio 2005 which I need to roll out to users accross several departments in my company, The problem is that it is trying to load .net framework 2.0 which needs to be loaded by an administrator.

My IT department will not allow users to have Admin rights on their machienes as the programme I am running allows users to update an access db and IT do not support Access.

Is there anyway to install the programme on other machienes without loading the .net prerequisite I have tried unchcking it in the prerequisite dialog box and now the set up will not run at all.

Is there anyway to just send the file programes across the network rather than using the set up file?

Any Help you can give would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Well you can just copy/paste your program to their file system, but if you program uses .NET2.0 and they don't have .NET2.0, its not going to work.

Is there anyway to compile the programme from Visual Studio that does not require .net 2.0?

Hi evilbungle,

Unfortunately not. If your app utilises .NET classes then you need the .NET Framework.
Here is a great article I found by Googling for "install .net framework administrator". If you ask your IT department nicely, they might give you a one-time domain administrator account which will enable users to install both the .NET Framework (see the tutorial - there's even a way of scripting the password but I've forgotten this off the top of my head) and your software on their PC without actually knowing the domain admin password (in my experience, most end-users don't know how to read the contents of a batch file).

Hope this helps.

This could be a great help, I just have to hope that IT let me have admin rights, ofcause if they were that reasonable I guess I wouldn't have to create programmes myself. :-)

You can try and change your project type to use .net1.1 or just go and use vs2003 which only does up to .net 1.1 (I want to say i heard 1.1 is not even supported any more by MS, but I might be mistaken)
