Refer to an XML document from within an XML document

Is there an "XML" way to reference an XML document from within an XML
document? How do I do this?

TIA,

XLink:

XPointer framework:
http://www.w3.org/TR/xptr-framework/
http://www.w3.org/TR/xptr-element/
XInclude:
http://www.w3.org/TR/xinclude/

Check out yourself which of them comes close to what you understand
"reference an XML document" to do.
