Best book for beginning ASP.NET with C#?

Hello there guys,

So yeah, I'm looking for an easy book to beginning ASP.NET 3.5 with C#. I want to start building websites in ASP.NET and will be doing it in university also so looking for an easy book to get me started. I have always loved Sams books in the past for getting started so wouldn't mind something similar to theirs. Sams do a book for 3.5 but it is in Visual Basic, and I want C#.

Oh, and I'm new to programming, so far I only know XHTML, CSS and a tiny bit of JavaScript. So you can see why a Sams style would be suited.

I've been looking on Amazon but nothing really sticks out so, hopfully you guys can help point me in the right direction.

Thanks

Andrew

Edit: Maybe I have put this in the wrong section. You may move if I have. Sorry.

I've been looking at Sam's Visual C# 2008, which looks great.

Summary of chapters: http://www.powells.com/biblio?isbn=9780672329906

Is this ASP.NET though? What would I be learning exactly?

In addition to books you can always look into msdn. I guess learning C#
and getting started C# would be good for you ...
Microsoft press books... wrox and apress are good

Thanks

Humm, yeah. I have browsed all these books online but wasn't sure which ones were good. I've browsed Amazon and some of the ones I think look good have gotten bad reviews from others on there. e.g Beginning ASP.NET 3.5 in C# 2008.

I bought Sams Visual C# today which will be a good start, as Sams always are. Though I don't think it's really about websites so my next purchase will be http://www.amazon.co.uk/Microsoft-AS...7214835&sr=8-4

Only one review but I think it seems exactly what I want.
