Uploading an XML File to an FTP site taking out the carriage return

2
I am building an XML document thru code then saving it on my local machine as well as posting it the an FTP site. When opening the XML document in my local machine. the Document is well indented and formated and has carriage return. When opening it in the FTP Site the XML document is NOT indented and the nodes are wriiten all on one line and wraped around. How can I maintain the same format (indented and line braks) when uploading the XML document to the FTP Site

Are you using the same application to view the XML file on your local machine and the FTP location?

That sounds like you are uploading the file as "text" and not as "binary" to the ftp. FTP is notorious for stripping certain characters out of text files in an attempt to change formats from a *nix system to a windows system.

Could be. *nix OS's use CR as the end of line character, but Windows uses CR/LF instead. If the LF's are being removed by the FTP, then a windows text program will show it as one line of text.
