Works 8 printing "out of memory"

HP deskjet F2180 printer, windows XP with SP3 installed. Bought printer when
we were still at SP2 and it was fine printing all my works database stuff,
haven't used it for a while but now I get an "out of memory" pop-up, even
when no other apps are open and db I'm trying to print is tiny. Only change
as far as I'm aware is SP3 and various microsoft updates, but when problem
crept in I can't say for certain. I've tried the knowledge base 841220 fix
and it makes no difference (could be because it doesn't say it applies to
works 8). I suspect SP3 because that disabled my wireless router back in May
but I don't want to revert to SP2 just so I can print. Today I've
uninstalled and reinstalled Works 8 and done the same with the printer
(twice), including checking for updates/patches. Does anyone have a
workaround short of throwing the printer out of the window and buying another
one?

Also can anyone suggest how to select the best discussion group to post in?
I'm staggered by the choice, which is not alphabetical and seems to have
duplicates!

Try this.

As you appear to be using a web interface, start here:

http://www.microsoft.com/communities...s/default.aspx

In the tree on the left, first open the English category, then open Home and
Entertainment.
In Home and Entertainment, find and open the Works category and find a group
there
