Publishing Console Applications (Install Settings)

22
Hello,

I've just published my first console app and everything went fairly smoothly. There are just a few installation settings that I was wondering about:

1) The following folder/files are created when I publish:
- SendEmailService_1_0_0_1 \ {dll/deploy files}
- autorun.inf
- SendEmailService.application
- SendEmailService_1_0_0_1.application
- setup.exe

Is there any way to get all this in a single Setup.exe?

2) The application is run automatically when the install completes. Can I prevent this?

3) I've set myself as the "Publisher Name" in the Project Properties. During the install, the Publisher section of the Install Dialog still says "Unknown Publisher". However, my name is used as the folder in the Start Menu. Why is my name not showing on the Install Dialog?

All I did was create a Console Application project, code it then right-click the project and select "Publish..."

Publish just sticks your output somewhere, it's not an installer.

The publish command builds a Click-Once setup package. To have it show a known publisher, you would have to digitally sign your app.

To get it into one file, create a setup project.
