check popup window closed or not

How to check popup window closed or with in that link button is clickedd or not.it mence-after displaying popup window if user close or click on link button with in the popup window the varible xyz should set to 1 value. it meance

if(popup.close==true)
{
xyz=1;
}

or

if(popup.linkclick==true)
{
xyz=1;
}

Hmm, could you made stick a value in the Session object when a popup window is opened, and then maybe somehow change that value when popup window is closed?

Or if you create the popup window in javascript, retain a handle to the window, when the popup is closed, it should change that handle to null, or some other setting under the properties of the javascript window object can be used to determine if the window is closed

thanks. it is ok but how to know popup is closed or not i am new to ASP.Net and dont know how to catch the close event for popup window. please can u say me
