Directory / read-only / permissions

Hi All,

I have a directory that, via the Windows Explorer security permissions control, I have disabled write acess for all users. Now, when I retrieve the DirectoryInfo on the same dir and inspect the FileAttributes or look at the DirectoryInfo object instance in the debugger it is showing that the dir is NOT read-only.

Can anyone tell me what the go is here?

My goal is simply to detect whether a directory is read-only or not.

Any help appreciated.

Cheers

Andy.

I don't think that security permissions and the 'read-only' attribute are the same thing.

In Windows Explorer if you right-click the folder, choose 'properties' and tick on the "read-only" attribute then run your program do you get the same results?
