VB.NET.DirectoryServices[WinApp]:Unable to Determine User Rights For a DirectoryEntry

So I'm having an issue that apparrently is so simple to resolve because I have not found the answer in any forums nor have I found the question.

Using VB.NET's DirectorySearcher class, I return a list of computers in the domain I specifiy. Great, now I want to know if the account being used, regardless if its mine, or if its the end user who will be impersonated in code, has permission to get a list of windows services installed on the listed computer.

Everything had been going great until I ran into an issue where ServiceProcess.ServiceController.GetServices(m_Nam e) would only work for a computer that I have administrative rights on. So before I step into the function to get the services, I would like to eliminate the computers that I do not have rights to from the DirectorySearcher results. Can this be done using an LDAP query? My brain hurts from trying to understand AD querying and LDAP so maybe I do not understand based on the fact that I just had an information overload.

Thanks in advanced.

Think of an ldap query as being similar, but a limited, sql query, You return a number of records. The ldap query itself is saying select from this directory this information. Like an sql where, most of the power in the query comes in the filter.

You build simple functions that create a class where you can apply the logic to your filtered information. An example:
Expand|Select|Wrap|Line Numbers
  1. public static new ServiceController[] GetServices( string machineName )
  2.     {
  3.         return GetServices( System.ServiceProcess.ServiceController.GetServices
  4.             ( machineName ) );
  5.     }
