file read and write..memory stream?

3
Hello,
I need to take a local file pass it through an already written encryption class and then save the file to back to the hard drive.
After looking around online it seems the best way to accomplish this would be to pass the file into a memory stream, pass the stream to the encryption class, and then from the memory stream back to the hard drive.
Does that sound like a decent way to accomplish my task?

I've been on msdn looking at memory streams, and its not making a whole lot of sense to me how to read and write so I thought I ask.

How about modifying this example to meet your needs(decrypting the file)? Using streams is basically all about bytes and just reading and writing the bytes properly....

Using a MemoryStream is really only required if you need to go between byte[] and a Stream object.
If your encryption system deals with streams directly, there should be no need to use the MemoryStream (A simple FileStream would probably suffice)
On the other hand if you need byte[], the MemoryStream is a good object for back and forths.

The example provided looks like it would suit my needs but I'm currently working in C#. But it seems like this http://www.java2s.com/Code/CSharp/Fi...oryStreams.htm might do the trick. Thanks for the link, I'll see if I can get it going.

I was just taking a look at the decryption code and it does convert stream to byte[] so it sounds like I should stick with the memory stream.
