C# Date Dropdownlist Problem

I have 3 drop down lists MM DD yyyy and have it calling the DateTime.Now.(time reference) then the format. I have populated the dropdownlist by hand with the selections that are available if the selected value needs to be another month/day/year and so on. I'd like to put more rules to it but everytime I get close to finding a piece of code with all the rules I need I find it needs something that I really am not able to do in this code. The problem I was having before with just a simple text = datetime.now.etc was that this form is for a travel departure time. So when the emails sends out the page reverts to the text that was there on page load. Forgetting all the tricky leap year and formatting rules and date validators(as in it's not a non existing or already passed day) is there another way to make it already have today selected without sending it in the email as the selected value?
