Dataset set ReadOnly Column editable for new row

Hi All,
Im creating a data access layer, and setting a column to read only,
Lets say its a user table with username, password, name.
ive set the username field to readonly in the typed dataset.
but when i add a new row the column cannot be edited.
What is the way (apart from handling it in the UI layer) to allow this behaviour using the dataset.

Thanks
