Help! ExecuteXmlReader not returning xml in VB

Hello all. I have a stored procedure that take no parameters and just returns XML as below:

Expand|Select|Wrap|Line Numbers
  1. CREATE PROCEDURE [dbo].[usp_mySP]
  2.
  3. AS
  4.
  5. SELECT
  6.              vchrOne,
  7.              vchrTwo,
  8.              vchrThree
  9. FROM [view_mydatasource]
  10. FOR XML AUTO
This works when i execute it in SQL Managment Studio and returns XML.

However, I want this in VB.Net 2.0 s I wrote this:

Expand|Select|Wrap|Line Numbers
  1. Public Function GetMyData() As XmlReader
  2.         Dim objSQLDataReader As XmlReader
  3.         Dim objSQLCommand As New SqlCommand
  4.         Dim objXMLDoc As New XmlDocument
  5.
  6.         Try
  7.             mobjDataAccess.Open()
  8.
  9.             objSQLCommand.CommandType = CommandType.StoredProcedure
  10.             objSQLCommand.CommandText = "[usp_mySP]"
  11.             objSQLCommand.Connection = mobjDataAccess
  12.
  13.             objSQLDataReader = objSQLCommand.ExecuteXmlReader
  14.
  15.             Return objSQLDataReader
  16.
  17.         Catch ex As Exception
  18.             Console.WriteLine(ex.Message)
  19.             Throw
  20.         Finally
  21.             mobjDataAccess.Close()
  22.         End Try
  23.     End Function
Returns nothing and when I debug it shows objSQLDataReader as "None".

Whats going on?

Suggests that there is something wrong with your connection...

When I was trying to figure it out I put a return parameter on there and that came back fine so it can't be the connection.

Any other guesses mate?

I just re-wrote it to return a dataset and that worked fine. Just want XML now :(

Well, if you can get the data into a DataTable (which is what datasets use) you can use this method, I think.

Thatnks but I really want SQL to do the XML for me and return that.
