Sql Query

Hi all

am using asp.net 2.0 with sql2000 backend
i have a table with 3 fields date1,date2,date3 those are all optional
if date1 not inserted we have to pickup date2,
if date1, date2 not inserted we have to pickup date3,
if date1, date2, date3 are inserted we have to pickup date1.
how to write select command for this to select date

and in select command we have to pickup one date only
please help its very urgent

Which database are you using? e.g If you are using Oracle then you can use COALESCE.

COALESCE should be available there as well. Check and see if it works.

If this doesn't work, a Searched CASE statement will. But it seems that COALESCE would be the best bet.
