Convertion from bytes to recordable time in vb.net

Hi Friends.......

The following question involves some arithimetic calculations......

I already have a function which calculates the remaining disk space in the hard disk.......

Im doing a task in vb.net where im trying to convert diskspace(in bytes) to diskspace (in time)....

Can any one find solution for my query....

Thanks in advance :)

Well i'm not sure of the exact values, this is how i image the problem goes:

1 CD = 703 MB = 80 minutes of audio
= 8.7875 MB/Minute (703/80)
=0.146458 MB/s (8.7875/60 -> from minute to seconds)
= 149.972992 kb/s (0.146458 * 1024 -> MB to KB)
=153572.343808 bytes/second (149.972992 * 1024 -> KB to MB)

hope this works (is right)

i do think that this scenario depends on what you are recording, video or audio and also the quality (bit rate) of the recording. i worked assuming that you will be using the bit rate for standard audio (dont know what that value is) used on CDs

good luck
