hi
i want to connect with sql server 6.0 from vb.net with framework 3.5
and i use the following code

sConnectionString = "Provider=sqloledb;Data Source=" & Trim(sName) & ";Initial Catalog=ShrmgmtDb;User Id=" & Trim(sLog) & ";Password=" & Trim(sPass) & ";"

dbCon = New System.Data.OleDb.OleDbConnection(sConnectionStrin g)
sSql = "select entryoprtrcd from finprjmgmttb "
dbcommand = New System.Data.OleDb.OleDbCommand(sSql, dbCon)
dbCon.Open()
but it is showing the following error

The data source can not be used, because it DBMS version is less than 6.5.0.
please give some idea

Hello

By seeing your error its some thing like .net frame cannot support your DB versionof 6.0 so, better check in microsoft site for compatibility of framework3.5 and available databases, already sqlserver2008 as been released its difficult to find the exact error by using the old 6.0 version

Use ODBC. Set up a DSN on the machine that you are running this on (server if it is ASP.NET as well as your debug machine) and use System.Data.Odbc instead of System.Data.OleDb
