Convert XML to a SOAP Response

We have a vendor which does not use SOAP. I would like to create a web
service to wrap all the http requests and responses to and from the vendor
so that our clients can use SOAP. On the reporting side, we must pass a HTTP
request with querystring parameters to the vendor and the vendor's response
is an XML formatted response.
If I know all the elements, attributes, etc of the XML and create a class to
hold the XML data that can be used to respond to our clients with a SOAP
response. Is there an easy way to read the data into our class without using
the XMLReader and iterating through the object model to assign?
