Windows XP Home File Encription

I recently lost my hard drive but I was able to transfer my My Documents
folder to an external hard drive but it is encrypted. I need to get into
those files. I was told there may be an encryption cracker of some sort I
could use instead of going to one of those big companies and spending
hundreds of dollars. These are photos of my children that I can no replace.
Any help out there?
