ATM lodgement help

Hi,
I have an atm program and i am having trouble with the lodgement part. I have an input box for the amount to lodge which will add to the balance in an access database. However when i input a value to lodge it throws up an error in the saveBalance sub about decimals saying -
Input string was not in a correct format.Couldn't store <-70.764633.333> in Balance Column. Expected type is Decimal.
