adding webusercontrols of child page to tabpanel in parent page dynamically

i am having two pages main.aspx and popupwindow.aspx .In main.aspx i am having tabpanel and button.popupwindow.aspx iam having listbox ie collection of webusercontrols.after click of that button on main.aspx i am gettin popwindow.now i want select webusercontrol so that it should add to tabpanel of main.aspx

You cannot have one page update another page.
For example,

If your main page opens a child page, and the child page has to do some stuff and then must update the main page, it is not possible with aspx.

Think about it, how would the server know how to send information the other browser that has made no Request to the server?

I suppose you could insert a bit of JavaScript to postback to the server after some time has passed...but this would be messy and confusing and wouldn't guarantee that the information's updated as soon as the other browser is opened.


I recommend converting the "pop-up" page into a WebUser control itself that you can place into a <div> (Panel) that you can display (position:absolute) instead of the pop-up. This would be displayed over the content of your main page (you could add draggable stuff to it using ajax) and it would be part of the page so you could update the main content through it.
