VB.NET - Green Vertical Line

48
Hi there,

Whenever I change any piece of code, I see a green vertical line on the left corner of the code editor for the modified line(s) once I click on Save, which in fact is yellow before save. I guess thats an indication that those lines of code have been changed, if I'm right. But the point is, is that helpful in any way? Is there any way wherein I could revert back to the same "unmodified" line(s) in one go?

Thanks in advance

What editor are you using?

I'm using VS2005 VB.NET Editor.

I thought for sure you must be using VS2008 since I use 2005 and have never seen it.
Do you have like "team edition" and use source control of some sort by any chance?

Yes I'm using VSS as source control but even if I run a solution independent of any source control I can still see that green vertical line (which appears just next to breakpoint glyph, if present).

Oh wow, you're right, I've never noticed it before. It's so small.

Yes it's quite small. Do you have any idea what is it for or what's the use of it?

Probably just as you said, to show what lines are changed from the saved copy. I really had never noticed until you mentioned it.

I hadn't noticed it either until yesterday when using VS2005...I don't think this is part of 2008.

Just wondering if there is any other significance other than showing that the corresponding lines of code were changed/modified by the user.

Thanx,
