Win XP re-install problem

I had a problem with my XP so I borrowed a CD to try and repair it but I
re-installed it by some stupid mistake. Anyway, XP was on the pc when I
bought it and it came with no CDs and now I don't have a product key.
Anything I can do here or did I just make a $100+ mistake

You might try posting your question to a group with "Windows" in the
description. This is a .Net programming newsgroup.

Thanks. I selected general discussion (didn't see .net) because I couldn't
find anything for general XP questions. It would be nice if Microsoft would
offer some sort of free support like every other company does.

Microsoft.public.windowsxp.general

Yes, I understand. I think all the groups ending in ".general" say "general
discussion" on them; this one is "microsoft.public.dotnet.general". Look for
one with "Windows" in the description.

Good luck.
