Changing Windows form contents dynamically when database is changed

I have a windows form which displays table contents from a database.

I want the contents to be automatically updated when the table in database is updated.

What I implement on my forms is a little timer control, which refetches the data at a defined time interval.
moreover, eevrytime a request is made to edit it, i ensure that I picku up the latest data from the database rather than the one from the dataset (depending on how critical the operation is)

If you have SQL server as your Database, you can use notification services, and implement your aplication to listen to this service.

I am sorry i am not aware of using notification services can u suggest me links.
