C#-WEB: Possible to load preconfigured web part zones?

I'm using C# .Net 2.0 web parts to layout a page.
I'd like to be able to give my users the ability to select from a list of "web part templates". On selecting a layout the page would load the web parts from the layout template. The idea is giving them a choice of several common preconfigured web part zones. Is there a simple way to do this?

Could you please explain in more detail what you mean by a "web part" and "web part zones"?

By the sounds of it, you are going to want to make UserControls (web parts) that the user can choose to include to personalize their "account" (or whatever). These UserControls will have to be dynamically loaded into your page according to the choices that the user has picked. You'll have to save their preferences some how as well (maybe in a Database or XML file or something)
