directory normal attribute

i'm using .NET 1.1
i need to set attribute for a folder which is already read only
i need to sett the particular folder to normal,
i tried this code

            dirInfo = New DirectoryInfo(Application.StartupPath & "/Resources/XML/")
            dirInfo.Attributes = FileAttributes.Normal
 

it does't set the folder attribute to normal, its readonly..
but when i set it normal manually
and try setting readonly attribute to the same folder programattically then its setting
i don't now why??

please suggest me/...

Depends on the account permission that your application is using. HTH.

I also think that you might have to REMOVE the READONLY then add the NORMAL?
