C# Password

18
Hi all, I would like to grant access to a Windows Form only submitting a password.
For example, now I'm prompiting the user to insert the password in a textbox and checking if the text property matches with the password.
There's a better way?
How can I protect the form without hardcoding the clear text password?

where is the password stored?

You should be really encrypting your password, You may use either a one way hash or a full encryption.

Expand|Select|Wrap|Line Numbers
  1. string strHashed =  FormsAuthentication.HashPasswordForStoringInConfigFile(TxtPassword.Text, "sha1");
sha1 is the type of hash algorithm
NOTE: this is only a one way hash !

Hello

if you your password is same and never change then you can directly hard code it in your form itsef and check with that in formload

if you want to give password change option too then there are many ways where your database comes into pitcure .

with out using database you can save your password in system registry and
read write it as per your reqirement
