Entourage X Error -2003

I'm running Entourage X (10.1.4). My OS is 10.4.11. When I try to insert a
sound file (no matter what type) I get a message "The action could not be
completed a Network error has occurred (-2003). From that point on Entourage
will no longer do ANYTHING (can't create new messages, send/receive messages,
etc.). Only way to get it working again is quite/restart. I've tried trashing
the preference file, but same behavior. A friend (don't know which version
of Entourage) is getting precisely the same behavior.
