VB: Reading random files from VB6

My existing VB6 programs make extensive use of random files, read from and written to using complex structures. For example...
Expand|Select|Wrap|Line Numbers
  1. Private Type RightsElement
  2.    ItemName As String * 10
  3.    ItemFolder As String * 32
  4.    RightsFlag As Integer
  5. End Type
  6.
  7. Private Type OneUser
  8.    UserName As String * 20
  9.    Password As String * 20
  10.    AllRights (0 to 64) As RightsElement
  11. End Type
  12.
I could then declare a variable such as ThisUsersRights As OneUser, and subsequently read from or write to a random file using this variable.

I have tried in vain to make this work in VB.Net 2008. I NEED to be able to read my existing files. Can anyone offer any suggestions? Or perhaps point me in the right direction for getting an answer?

Thank you.
Steve
