How to create a private chat

Hi, I'm using c# and asp.net
In my website, I have tab in my tabcontainer for example - contacts.
There it shows me a listbox/something like that, which shows my contacts - online and offline contacts.

Now then I click on a contact - I want to send him a message. So I have a send message linkbutton for the simplicity of understanding my purpose.
Now , when I click on it , I want a new window to be opened. That would be the private page of each contact. There the user can write a message to him and send it to the contact. The contact will receive the message of course.
The most important things that I want to ask which I don't know how to do them are: How to create the contact ListBox with the online/offline users?
How to make a private page/window which would be his messages' page/window, which will show the messages/the textboxes for his messages only? - I want the connection between the user and his contact to be private of course so nobody can see it.
And how to send a message at all...? I don't have any idea for accomplishing thhose missions.
Can anyone help me solving them? if not all of them so at list what you are able..
It's very urgent and important for me.
