2007 Microsoft Office Suite Service Pack 1 (SP1)

P: n/a
Using XP (English). I left this huge update running to download as I am on
dial up. When I got back to computer (said the download would take 68 hours)
I recd an error message saying: System has recovered from a serious error.
I didn't get the error number sorry. My microsoft update history showing
2007 Microsoft Office Suite Service Pack 1 (SP1) failed to install. From
what I can gather I have to redownload with the microsoft office cd in place?
I had another cd in so obviously having just anything in there doesn't work.

Are you downloading from Microsoft Update or the Download Center? If you are
using the download center is there an error in your Event Viewer? (Event
Viewer is inside your "Administrative tools" in Control Panel.) If you are
using Microsoft Update, check you install history for errors. Sometimes the
error codes are listed there.

I checked the event viewer, there are 4 warning messages, perhaps when it
said it had recovered from a serious error. I am pretty computer savy but
not when it comes to the administrative options...have never even been there
before today!
Is SP1 an update I really need? It seems everyone is having issues with it.
