Connection String question for C#

62
Hi I have the following code:

string path = System.IO.Path.GetDirectoryName(System.Reflection. Assembly.GetExecutingAssembly().GetName().CodeBase );

This returns the path from which the application is executed from, here the debug folder in the bin folder.

I want to use this code to point to my database which is in the same directory and use it in my connection string here:

conn.ConnectionString = @"Provider=Microsoft.ACE.OLEDB.12.0;Data Source = address.accdb;Jet OLEDB:Database Password=gizboozle";

The idea is that once I have deployed or packaged the application, the application will automatically look for the database in the same folder as the .exe

can anyone tell me how to do this?

Thanks,

I am pretty sure that just using a relative path in your connection string will do the same thing.
So instead of saying like "C:\somedirectory\mymdb.mdb"
You would use just "mymdb.mdb"

Yes I managed to get it working by just using the DB name.

I actually realised that I never added the database file to the application folder when creating the Windows Installer program...

Thanks for the feedback.
