Non-top level form within a panel

I've got a UserControl which contains a number of forms (in the style of an MDI parent/child setup). Everything works and looks good apart from the fact that the caption on each contained form is always grey, whether the form has the focus or not.

Is there a way around this? I'd like the selected form to have the familiar dark blue caption when selected and moving about as at the moment you can't tell which form has the focus.

I know about the MDI facilities in c#.net, but unfortunately I can't use it due to the fact that the MDI container I have created isn't a window, it's a control that can be contained in another control.

I would guess that it's grayed-out because it's made as a control?
You could always remove the title bar entirely and use your own like Label or something to show them

No, it's simply a non-top level Form contained within a Form, it's just that in my app, the parent form can't be TopLevel and hence can't be an MDI container.

When you minimize and maximize the contained Form, you can see the caption bar momentarily going blue [as it shrinks] before going back to grey.
