Links with HTTPS Switching to HTTP by Themselves

I have a very weird problem with our site at https://store.canoegame.com. For many users the site is working as it should however for a few it is not.

One of the bigger problems is the fact that, while it is fully an HTTPS site, I have tested it on a specific machine and some of the links will stay in HTTPS but others (specifically to the product pages) go to the HTTP protocol. This is not the way it is coded and, in fact, the status bar shows the user that they will be going to https://store.canoegame.com/whateverpage.aspx but they end up at http://store.canoegame.com/whateverpage.aspx. Obviously this is a huge problem because they cannot keep their cookies/sessions between the two protocols and therefore cannot add items to thier carts.

The machine that this was tested on was a Vista OS and it was tested using both IE and Firefox with the same result. IE also adds the complexity of opening a new window when moving from http to https and visa versa. On a XP with IE and Firefox everything works fine.

Has anybody else experienced this? I have never seen this type of behavior in many years of developing.

I would guess it has something to do with the certificates for your server.
Vista might be more strict on site certificate policy and decide to blatently stop some https connections it feels are "not secure" at least not as much as they claim to be?
