Programmer

I was doing programming in VB6, but new assignment is on .NET which I am not familiar with.

I am trying to retrieve ContractorID from the tableA based on dropDownlist (ddlCName)'s value whenever the Selected Index Changes. All data is in the same table.

Any help would be appreciated.

You're gonna need to provide some more info...

a). What version of .NET? 1.1, 2.0, 3.0, 3.5? (In 3.5 it's done significantly differently than in 1.1 with the advent of LINQ for instance).
b). What is tableA? is a table in an SQL Server database, Access, MySQL etc? is it a dataset within your application?
c). How does what is in the drop down list relate to what's in the database table (if at all)?
d). What is the format of the drop down list? Does it show text descriptors to the user but hold values relating to the table key?

We need all this kind of info before we can provide a relevant answer.

Sounds like you want us to do your homework? If are confident in vb then you shouldn't have too much trouble with vb.net, I believe that you can even convert them using VS 2003. We prefer not to assist people doing assignments, you'll thank us later when you are an expert. I am closing this thread.
