27
i am an dropdown list on DataGrid

i ahave following code in the item bound event of the grid
combo.DataTextField = "status"
combo.DataValueField = "id"
combos.DataSource = ds.Tables("Status")
comboStatus.DataBind()

data gets populated corrected.

the user can changes the status using this dropdownlist.
i have an update button to update the table with the new status selected
is there any way to get the 'id' for the status the user has selected from my dropdownlist rather than writing a query

combo.SelectedValue will give you the selected value of the drop down list. You will need to get the row that the dropdownlist selected is in. Generally to do this I would use the ItemCommand event of the datagrid. Use the e in the ItemCommand event to get the row index.
