Does anyone know how to add the VC++2005 compiler for x64 to an existing
installation of Visual Studio 2005 SP1?
I opened Control Panel - Program Additions and Deletions - Microsoft Visual
Studio 2005 Team Edition for Software Developers - Japanese. I did not
select Service Pack 1 because that only had a button for deletion. I
selected the base functionality, clicked the button for Change and Delete,
and tried to add the C++ x64 compiler. I inserted the MSDN DVD for Visual
Studio 2005 Team Edition for Software Developers, Japanese, Disc 3200,
February 2006.
The first error log is in

Screenshots are in

The installer could not find the DVD. (I neglected to take a screenshot.)
Screenshot 1 shows that I browsed to the correct file on the DVD.
Screenshot 2 shows that the installer found the browsed file.
Screenshot 3 shows that the installer did not find the same browsed file.
Screenshot 4 shows that the added component was successfully installed.
Screenshot 5 shows that the same added component failed to install.
Google found some blog postings suggesting an attempted repair for Visual
Studio 2005 English. Since Visual Studio 2005 Japanese has a different
GUID, I looked in the Event Log - Applications to find the GUID. I ran the
following command:
msiexec /fvomus {464B27B4-BE14-4195-A08F-46DB01C8B4DF} /l*v vs8_repair.log
That command made the same request for the same DVD, same file, and same
failure. The second error log is in
http://www.geocities.jp/hitotsubishi...vs8_repair.log
Does anyone know how to do it?
