Out of memory/Server unavailable error w/ large datasets

2
Hello,
I'm new here hopefully i did not broke any rules already, Here's the problem, I'm getting the OUT OF MEMORY exception/SERVER UNAVAILABLE error when fetching large amounts of data in the ff. environment.
-windows 2003
-.net framework 1.1
-asp.net using vb as code
-oracle 9i database.

the develpment server has 2gigs of memory so I think its not an issue. I've tested the query and it works on plSQL developer but when i put it to use with .net to display in the datagrid the exception happens..please help me..tnx

running your query from the oracle interface should take lesser memory than from an external application.

Just being curious, How many rows/columns of data are you getting, have you used just a select statement, or is it more than just a select.

If possible could you give more details upon that exception, because if you generally put the exception into a search engine you get a lot of good results.

cheers

hello,
I don't encounter such problems whith ordinary single table select statements, I do use nested statements connecting to other db's with the use of oracle's dblink functionality. Also, the .Net application has checkboxes w/c correspond to 1 set of select statement per checkbox. I use Union to join all the statements then get the results then the "Out of Memory Exception" as soon as the app server's memory limit for .Net is consumed...thanks in advance!
