Bulk xml files conversion to txt format - so far I have single file working

10
Hi all,

I have attempted to create a vb.net application that can extract neccessary data from a xml file to txt format. This is all working fine.

The next step for me is to be able to scan a default folder for new files using a timer.

I understand how the timer will work but need obviously to know how to scan a folder for files. which class do i use for that?

every new xml file in the default folder should be converted when the timers interval kicks in.

i have set up the application so that xml file values are converted to txt format and original xml file is saved as .old and moved to a newly created .old folder.

Main issues: how to scan folder for xml files only
how to convert all found xml files (their values) to txt format

Some usefull info or links would be appreciated.

I am still searching on the net as I am writing this, but have yet to find any specific info about this.

Thank you for looking and helping me out with this one.

I have come a far way now and am looking forward to this next step.

A search engine would have given you some results,
DirectoryInfo is what you need.
Once you got that instantiated, you should be able to navigate yourself from its methods.

cheers.

PS. Sorry ive been away for a while from the forums...taking a break
