Tab Navigation

daJunkCollector
Hey all,

I am using .NET 2.0 to create a website. My boss/designer desires a tabbed navigation system.

I am placing the tabs on a master page and I will load the other pages based on the tab that is clicked. So far, so good.

The problem comes down to how do I make my tabs. The obvious answer is CSS or a third-party navigation builder such as Telerik. WELL...well our office uses IE6.0. And there is no chance of an upgrade in the near future. IE 6.0 renders the worst CSS of all time, and the **** little javascript fix found on Google don't work. I have not bothered with the server-side headers fix yet (and I will if it is my only option).

I do not believe there is no simple way to make efficient bug-free tabbed navigation with the .NET framework! What do I not know?

So I ask, what other methods of tabbed navigation do you recommend? I have been struggling with this issue for around 3 months now.

As of today, I think I am going to go with Flash, Silverlight, or an Image Map!

Thanks,
Pete

Have you tried Ajax?

Was aliasruel drunk? OR was his e-mail really removed? And yes, 3 months (but I have been working on several projects, training, and reading in between). This has been a hot and cold issue, but I must now determine a solution.

I have some ajax experience. I have read 2 books on it and I have played with the .NET 2.0 ajax extensions. Without a doubt, I intend on using Ajax to load some of the content, but after thorough research I have learned you cannot load <ContentTemplate> into master pages "Ajaxically" as a result of master-page-navigation-buttons. So.....although and interesting topic I do not see a relation between Ajax and the fact IE6 renders CSS only slightly better than I render 3d animation with my looks.

Any ideas?

I thought that the Ajax.NET package came with a tab control?
I remember this because I ended up creating my own tab control and then a couple months later finding out about Ajax.NET.

Oh yeah, email links are not permitted on this site and so the email was removed.
